Chapter 3: Stabbin' Westward

Seeing the seaborne abomination raising its arm does not slow Jeremy's velocity, but Eledriar, you see your magical rapier adjust its trajectory slightly in its dive, glacing off the Sahuagin E's bone coverings and plunging itself in totality into the fishperson's torso, likely piercing several vital organs. You see the fishperson stagger to the ground, taking a knee and dropping its bone weapon, and as it does, you hear Jeremy call out--"WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"--as the enchanted blade lifts itself out of the fishy flesh, only to drop down again and slash into the abdomen of Sahuagin E. The fishperson bellows with a mixture of anger and fear, before falling on all fours and turning back to the ocean as its life essense dribbled out of its wounds, probably to follow its sea colleague in escape.

[Sahuagin D is next to act. - DM]

Sahuagin D dashes forward towards Eledriar, unimpressed by the earthbound warriors' display of battle prowess. As its nostrils are now filled with the ambient scents of both elven and sahuagin blood spilt, it drops its bone spear on the ground and instead opts to swing its clawed hands at Eledriar...

[Eledriar, you take 2 slashing damage from Sahuagin D's claw attack, please update your HP (also to account for the 3 piercing damage from Sahuagin E's spear throw_. - DM]

Sahuagin D's claw swipe manages to catch you unawares, Eledriar, and before you are able to draw another weapon in defense, you see the fishy hand rake across your chest, cutting across your tunic and breaking the skin again. A bit more of your blood is shed, but you are still standing and ready to continue the fight.

A few feet away, Jeremy pulls itself again from Sahuagin E's flesh, severing fish tissue and sinew as it withdrew from the fishperson's body. While hovering, the magic weapon slowly rotates itself in the air, training the point of its blade on the fishperson that attacked its "partner"...

[First round of the encounter is done. After some flavor text, Cordial and Ezythyr and the young boy will roll Initiative. - DM]

Cordial and Ezythyr, you are within thirty feet of the battle between your companions and these sea creatures. You note that Eledriar has been hurt, and is grappling with one of the fish people, while Thokk is chopping away with his silver sword at another. Two of the fish people appear to be escaping back towards the ocean, but one in the middle, with a large conch in hand, is walking towards Thokk with a rather menacing look in his beady little eyes.

[OK to roll Initiative now, Cordial and Ezythyr, and I'll roll for the young boy. - DM]

[New initiative order: Ezythyr, Cordial, Sahuagin B, Sahuagin C, Thokk, Sahuagin E, Eledriar, the Young Boy, Sahuagin A, and finally Sahuagin D. Exythyr, you're up; the combat between Thokk and Sahuagin B and C is nearest to you, Cordial, and the Young Boy (I still need to make a map). - DM]

Ezythyr, you alone see a familiar gerblin apparition hover over your shoulder as you approach the altercation: Morkan surveys the scene, and strokes his ghastly chin with his phantom hand.


Morkan: "Soooo, you've found some sahuagin, neat. But only one, two, three, four... five of them? Fishpeople hunting parties are never this small, wouldn't be too surprised if there's more hiding in the shoals, watch out! Also, don't go into the water on this coast... ever.

"Like ye needed to tell me." Ezythyr puffs as he runs. He shudders to think of the water. He knew there were beach dwarves but the thought of all that water made him nervous.

With a bit of concentration, he wills Kidrin's spirit into his axe, reveling in the purple glow with the green flames. Raising Arbuckler, he roars out as he attacks the fish that's menacing Thokk!

OOC: Pretty sure I have enough movement to get adjacent to Thokk and attack that Sahuagin.

[With your augmented Green Flame Blade + spirit-enhanced axe strike, Ezythyr, you hit the Sahuagin B for 28 points of slashing damage. - DM]

The Sahuagin B has a brief second to look over at the yelling dwarf with battleaxe, before receiving the burning strike across its waistline, cleaving the fishperson in two. The green fire engulfs the fishperson, scorching the exposed flesh, bone, and sinew, creating a rather delicious grilled seafood scent and effectively cauterizing the two sections of the former Sahuagin B. Its burnt legs and pelvis fall forward onto the sand, lifeless and delicious, while its burning torso is flung towards the Sahuagin C nearby.

The Sahuagin C also has a mere moment to look over at the roaring dwarf before it sees the burning flesh flying toward him. As a snap reflex, it catches the burning seaperson chunk, and looking into the lifeless, melting eyes of the Sahuagin B, it cries out in both pain and despair.


Sahuagin C: "MY BEAUUUUTIFUL SONNNN... NOOOOOOOOO!!!"

The magical green flame seems to lick at the Sahuagin C's seagreen flesh and seaweed coverings, but the fishperson's attention appears to be otherwise fixated on other matters.

[Sahuagin C takes 4 points of burning damage from catching the burnt partial corpse of its dead sea-son. Sahuagin B is obviously quite dead, having been (Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - SPOILER ALERT) "Darth Maul'd". As a result of your enchanted weapon attack effect, Ezythyr, you can add 14 temp hit points to your current HP. After Ezythyr's reaction to the events, Cordial, you are next to act. - DM]

Cordial continues to run towards Eledriar, concerned that her companion's injury could be the first of several she will suffer against these nasty fish people. She stops briefly to take aim at the one attacking Eledriar. Squinting her eyes and focusing, she casts Frostbite on him.
